Over the past day, 214 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 23 people were killed and 255 injured. 19 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles. This was reported to Izvestia on April 4 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Six accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but seven road users needed medical attention. The reason for the two bus accidents was traffic violations by their drivers. As a result of 64 accidents, 29 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 35 outside their area of operation, four pedestrians were killed, and 62 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 15 child pedestrians, seven of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings.

On Thursday, 38 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 38 young road users were injured, including 11 child passengers, five cyclists and four motor transport drivers under the age of 16. There are no dead children.

"On the eve of the weekend, we urge motorists to strictly follow the rules of the road and be more attentive on the roads of settlements and cities. Special care should be taken when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop in order to allow pedestrians to pass. Also remember that the behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, so do not rush to resume traffic, even if the traffic light allows you to do so, until you are sure that the crossing is completely free of pedestrians," said Colonel Izvestia, head of the Department for road Safety Promotion and prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. police officer Sergey Hrantskevich.

The State Traffic Inspectorate also said that temporary traffic closures continue in some regions of the country due to a difficult flood situation or adverse weather. For example, in the Republic of Bashkortostan, traffic on one of the regional highways was temporarily stopped due to flooding of the roadway by flood waters. In the Kurgan region, traffic on three regional highways was stopped for the same reason.

In the Murmansk Region, traffic on three regional highways of the Kola Peninsula has been temporarily suspended since tonight due to adverse weather conditions in the form of snow, a low-level blizzard, gusty winds and limited visibility. In addition, for the same reasons, traffic is blocked on the section from 1408 km to 1510 km of the federal highway R-21 "Cola". In the Republic of North Ossetia—Alania, traffic has been restored on the A-164 Transcam federal highway from the village of Buron (65 km) to the northern portal of the Roki tunnel (94 km) since the morning of April 3. Earlier, it was completely blocked for more than a day due to heavy rains and rockfall.

The agency recommended that when planning long-distance trips in these and neighboring regions, monitor the weather forecast and media information from places of closures or traffic restrictions. In case of a negative forecast, you should temporarily refrain from using personal vehicles or plan routes in advance to avoid problematic areas.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate had announced a raid in which special attention would be paid to taxi drivers. The preventive event will take place next weekend, on April 5-6.
