- The British Foreign Ministry reported on negotiations with the United States against the background of the introduction of duties

The UK is negotiating with the United States on a possible economic agreement after the imposition of duties by American leader Donald Trump. This was announced to reporters on April 4 by British Foreign Minister David Lammy before the second day of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the NATO countries.
He called Britain a great maritime power and a country that "believes in open trade."
"We are currently consulting with representatives of business and industry. We are negotiating with the United States to conclude an economic agreement," Lammy said.
According to the head of the British Foreign Ministry, the main goal of the negotiations is to ensure the interests of the British people, who are concerned about their incomes and economic well—being.
On April 2, Trump announced large-scale measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%. In his speech, the president said that Americans will become rich again.
In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on April 4 that the global economy is in a fever from duties imposed by the US presidential administration, and economists are receiving unfavorable forecasts.
