On Monday, April 7, another lesson from the series "Conversations about important things" will be held in Russian schools and colleges. The lesson is timed to celebrate the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus and is dedicated to strengthening allied relations between the two countries. The Day of Unity of the peoples of Russia and Belarus is celebrated annually on April 2 in memory of the signing in 1996 of the treaty "On the formation of the Community of Russia and Belarus." He consolidated the desire of the two countries to continue mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and initiated the process of mutual integration.
Exactly one year later, on April 2, 1997, another important document was signed — the Treaty on the Union of Belarus and Russia. It was aimed at improving the standard of living of the citizens of both countries, ensuring sustainable socio-economic growth, as well as strengthening cooperation and fraternity in key areas. And in 1999, the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State was signed.
At the lesson, schoolchildren "Day of Unity of Russia and Belarus. The Union State" students will learn about the main areas of cooperation between the two countries, get acquainted with the current Russian-Belarusian youth programs and remember what unites our peoples.
The lesson will be held in a conversation format using videos, presentations and interactive tasks. The methodological materials are published on the website of the Conversations about the Important project.

The principle of the Union State's work will be explained to primary school students using the example of friendship between peers. Children will be asked to recall the main principles of camaraderie (respect, mutual assistance, common values, etc.), and then apply them to the relations between the two states. The children will also learn what Russia and Belarus have in common (history, culture, similar languages) and get acquainted with the rules of the children's public association "Belarusian Republican Pioneer Organization".
At the end of the lesson, students from grades 3-4 will answer quiz questions about Belarus and test their knowledge of this country.
Students in grades 5-7 will be reminded of the historical events that connect the peoples of Russia and Belarus. They will also be told about the heroic deeds of Belarusians during the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the students will learn about how Russian and Belarusian children's and youth organizations cooperate and discuss with the teacher ways to overcome difficulties in such interaction. At the end of the lesson, the students will complete a creative task and make a draft video in which they will present their class, school or locality to the Belarusian children.
Students of grades 8-9 will talk about some areas of the Russian-Belarusian partnership.: the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the joint space program, the educational program for university students, etc. The importance of ensuring security in the territory of the Union State will also be discussed with the guys. At the end of the lesson, students will be asked to think about a joint scientific, cultural or educational project for schoolchildren in Russia and Belarus.
High school students will be reminded of what a multipolar world is and what international associations Russia belongs to. They will also learn in detail about the history of the formation of the Union State. Together with the teacher, the students will discuss cooperation between Russia and Belarus in energy, trade, security, etc. Special attention will be paid to educational programs and youth policy.

"Conversations about important things" is a cycle of extracurricular activities launched by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in 2022. It is dedicated to the culture, history, geography and the state structure of Russia. They also discuss important everyday issues with students, such as choosing a future profession, relationships with peers, finding their vocation, etc.
The previous lesson, dedicated to the 185th anniversary of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's birth, was devoted to the role of art in the life of every person and the state.
