The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has launched raids in the northern Gaza Strip, in the Shujaiya area, against the Palestinian Hamas movement. This was reported by Bloomberg on April 4.

"Israel has sent soldiers to the northern regions of Gaza, stating that it wants to expand the buffer zone there in connection with the escalation of operations against Hamas," the article says.

It is also reported that in the Shujaiya area, the Israeli military destroyed the infrastructure and command and control centers belonging to Hamas.

Earlier in the day, the IDF announced the elimination of the commander of the Palestinian Hamas movement Hassan Farhat in western Lebanon as a result of a strike in the Saida area. According to the military, Farhat led the movement's forces in the western sector of Lebanon and "posed a threat to Israel and its citizens."

Prior to that, on April 2, it was reported that the Israeli Air Force intercepted two rockets launched into the country from the Gaza Strip. No damage or injuries were reported as a result of the attack.
