More than 250 landscape fires have occurred in Transbaikalia since the beginning of the year

Since the beginning of the current 2025 year, 256 landscape fires have been recorded in the Trans-Baikal Territory, 62 of them were in the forests of the region. This information was presented at a briefing on a fire-hazardous situation, the ChitaMedia news agency reported on Friday, April 4.

At the same time, the number of fires is lower compared to the same period last year, while the fire areas, on the contrary, have increased.

The fire has already destroyed more than 11 thousand hectares. So, this year 1.5 hectares of dry grass were burned more than a year earlier. The volume of the forest area increased by 3 thousand hectares.

Earlier it was reported that about 380 camera traps will be set up in the forests of the Trans-Baikal Territory to search for arsonists. Information from the devices will be sent to the control room immediately.
