The level of juvenile delinquency is alarming. This was announced on April 4 by Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

According to statistics from the Russian Interior Ministry, in 2024, 9,5 thousand teenagers aged 14-17 became involved in criminal cases.

"Over the years, the rate of juvenile delinquency has been decreasing, but the pace has slowed slightly. The level and state of criminalization of the adolescent environment are still alarming," TASS quoted him as saying.

According to statistics from the Russian Interior Ministry, over 21,000 minors committed crimes in 2024. This figure has decreased by 6% compared to 2023. Mercenary crimes remain among the most common crimes, accounting for 53% of the total number.

Most often, when the law is violated, children act based on obtaining a certain benefit and meeting their needs. Bastrykin also mentioned the peculiarities of the juvenile criminal environment. Among them, he highlighted the presence of a group character.

According to investigations by the Criminal Investigative Committee, approximately 4,500 children violated the law as part of a group.

On April 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a decrease in the level of juvenile delinquency in recent years. According to him, it is necessary to protect the younger generation from the influence of radicals.
