FAS has proposed to AKORT to expand the range of purchased potatoes

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has proposed to the Association of Retail Trade Companies (ACORT) to increase the range of purchased potatoes by adding smaller vegetables than those offered in retail chains, the service reported on April 4.
"This will increase the volume of the specified product in stores and increase its affordability for citizens," the authority believes.
In addition, the FAS reported that the service receives data on the availability of potato stocks in suppliers' warehouses, which meet quality standards, but do not fully meet the requirements of retail chains in terms of shape, size and packaging.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia has proposed to the Association of Retail Trade Companies (ACORT) to work with the organization's member chains on the issue of temporarily reducing these requirements for purchased potatoes.
According to the ministry, this will restore the balance of supply and demand for socially important food products.
Earlier, on April 1, Izvestia reported that potatoes had risen in price by 24% since the beginning of the year. Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov asked the Ministry of Economic Development to take measures to stabilize the cost of vegetables. He draws attention to the fact that potatoes are a socially significant commodity, the cost of which can be regulated by the state.
