By the end of March 2025, 79.8 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 45.5% less than in the first spring month of 2024. This is stated in the message of the analytical agency Autostat, which was received by Izvestia on April 4.

Lada remains the market leader, its share in early spring exceeded 31% (a year ago this figure was below 28%), and sales amounted to 25.2 thousand copies sold.

Haval became the most popular brand among foreign cars, with 9.8 thousand units sold in March. On the third line in the overall ranking is Chery (8.4 thousand units), followed by two more brands from China — Geely (5.1 thousand units) and Changan (3.8 thousand units).

The sixth place is occupied by the Belarusian Belgee with an indicator of 2.4 thousand cars. This is followed by three more brands from China.: Omoda (2.1 thousand units), Jetour (2.1 thousand units) and Jaecoo (1.6 thousand units). Completing the top ten is the St. Petersburg brand Solaris (1.6 thousand units), which got into it for the first time. It turned out to be the only one among the brands represented that demonstrates market growth (almost nine times — on a low base). And Geely recorded the strongest drop (-65.8%).

According to the results of the first quarter of 2025, 246.9 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 25.3% less than in the three months of last year. Solaris has the highest growth (23 times). In addition, Jetour (+19%), Jaecoo (+25.3%) and Belgee (+46.6%) also turned out to be in the black. The remaining six brands show negative dynamics, and Geely is the worst again (-54.6%).

Over the last winter month, 78 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 24.9% less than in February 2024.

On March 5, the Committee of Automobile Manufacturers of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) announced that February 2025 set a ten-year anti-record in new car sales. According to Alexey Kalitsev, Chairman of the committee, such factors as increased recycling fees, high cost of loans and reduced availability, as well as changes in the tax system led to a reduction in sales.

On April 2, the head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, said that in March the Russian car market showed significant negative dynamics, declining by 44.4%. In March, 28.7 thousand Lada passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia, which is 7.4% more than in February this year and 33% less than a year earlier.
