Elon Musk called for the release of Marine Le Pen

Entrepreneur and Head of the Department of State Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk has called for the release of Marine Le Pen, the leader of the parliamentary faction of the French National Unification Party. On April 4, he announced this on his social network X (ex. Twitter).
"Freedom for Le Pen," Musk wrote.
In addition, he attached to his post a screenshot of a message from American leader Donald Trump on the Truth Social network, in which he called Le Pen's sentence a witch hunt. In the post, Trump also called for the release of the politician.
On April 1, French authorities launched a new investigation into Marine Le Pen due to threats against judges. It was reported that three members of the judicial board, who sentenced the politician to imprisonment and a ban on participating in elections in the case of embezzlement of European Parliament funds, were attacked on social networks.
On March 31, a court in Paris found Le Pen guilty of embezzlement of European Parliament funds in the case of creating fictitious jobs, sentencing her to four years in prison, two of which are suspended, and the remaining two years are house arrest with wearing an electronic bracelet. In addition, she also lost the right to participate in the 2027 presidential election.
