- A military historian told about the search for the Soviet army soldiers who died in Senica.

About 413 Soviet soldiers died on the territory of Senica and were subsequently exhumed in Bratislava. The Zagorye Military History Club, organized in order to study the history of the Second World War, is searching for the bodies of dead servicemen. The chairman of the club, military historian Peter Bacha, told Izvestia about this on Friday, April 4.
So, it all started with the fact that Bacha and his associates wanted to find out more information about the soldiers of the 2nd Ukrainian Front. The initiative led them to the name of Sergeant Voros Tukhtalyan.
A military historian contacted a mother who was trying to find out where her son had died. She was informed that Tukhtalyan died in a field hospital in Senica.
"Well, now we have decided to look even further for the soldiers who also died in Senica and in the town of Chachov, which is part of Senica," Bacha shared.
In Chachov, the chairman of Zagorye learned about the name Maxim Fomichev from the village of Nadezhdino in the Omsk region. After contacting the administration of the soldier's homeland, Bacha learned that Fomichev was from a large family and what kind of family he was from. According to him, the Russian soldier died in Chachovo on April 7, 1945.
"His brother, as I read, died a month earlier, but on the front line in Germany, near the Baltic Sea. And based on this, we decided that we would make a commemorative plaque and place it on the building of the municipality or notary office. This commemorative event will take place on Sunday, April 6, the day before, where we would like to unveil this commemorative plaque," said Bacha.
Thus, the club members expressed their gratitude to both Fomichev for giving his life fighting and liberating Bratislava from the Nazi invaders, and the entire Red Army.
Earlier that day, Natalia Balanova, a member of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Slovakia, said in an interview with Izvestia that an action "Immortal Regiment" was planned to be held in Slovakia in May this year. It has been held in the country since 2015. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, sanitary restrictions were in effect, which made it impossible to carry out a full-fledged campaign. However, local residents held spontaneous gatherings near the memorials, remembering the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, Balanova said.
