The administration of US President Donald Trump has refused to release Russian scientist Ksenia Petrova, who was detained for importing frog embryos into the United States. This was reported by Bloomberg on Thursday, April 3.

"Ksenia Petrova was detained by customs and border patrols on February 16 at Boston's Logan Airport after a trip to France because she did not declare frog embryos that she had imported into the country as part of her research," the publication says.

As indicated, the country's authorities refused to grant Petrova parole because they considered that she posed a threat to the security of the United States.

The agency clarified that the detention of the scientist takes place against the background of Trump's anti-immigration policy.

At the moment, Petrova is in an immigration prison in Louisiana.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that a federal court in the US state of Arizona had sentenced Russian Oleg Patsul to 70 months (almost six years) in prison. He was found guilty for his role in conspiring to export controlled aviation technologies to Russia and money laundering in connection with an illegal export scheme.
