Students from Africa began to en masse to study agriculture in Russia

The number of applications for admission to Russian universities specializing in agriculture has increased over the past five years, Rossotrudnichestvo told Izvestia.
Applications from African students for admission to Russian universities in the fields of agriculture increased fivefold from 2020 to 2025, Rossotrudnichestvo noted.
Currently, more than 1.6 thousand students from 45 African countries study in educational organizations subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture, the department said.
"Most of the students represent Cameroon, Mali, Algeria, Egypt. Agronomy, veterinary medicine, and agroengineering are among the most sought—after areas of study for students from Africa," they said.
For the next academic year, 207 quotas of the Russian government have been allocated for representatives of the African continent, whereas previously there were 120.
