European regulators are considering the possibility of imposing on the social network X (ex. Twitter), owned by billionaire Elon Musk, fined more than $1 billion. This was reported by the New York Times on Thursday, April 3.

The EU accuses X of violating the law on combating illegal content and disinformation. According to sources, the sanctions will include a fine and a requirement to make changes to the products.

According to the newspaper, the alleged fine is planned to be so huge as to deter other companies from violating the law on digital services.

Earlier, on March 29, Musk's startup xAI bought all shares of the social network X. The cost of the merger is $80 billion, and X is $33 billion, Musk announced. xAI was founded two years ago and now creates high-speed data processing models.

In February, an American entrepreneur introduced Grok 3, a new generation neural network developed by xAI. According to the billionaire, this model is 10 times more powerful than the previous one and beat its main competitors in tests — GPT-4o, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Gemini-2 Pro and DeepSeek-V3, solving problems in mathematics, code generation and scientific work.
