The President of Republika Srpska (RS), the entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Milorad Dodik proposed to abolish all duties on imports of goods from the United States. He made the corresponding statement on Thursday, April 3, on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
"Taking into account the interests of Republika Srpska, I propose that Bosnia and Herzegovina abolish all customs duties on goods originating from the United States," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to Dodik, this will create conditions for negotiations on a zero-tariff free trade deal between the two countries. This initiative will ensure the development of the economy in BiH, the RS President emphasized.
As Dodik pointed out, he fully supports US President Donald Trump's "America First" policy. The Head of State called on BiH to prioritize its national interests in the same way as the United States does.
On April 3, Trump imposed duties on imports of goods from the European Union and some other countries. Russia is not on the list. The measures will affect not only the EU (20%), but also China (34%), Vietnam (46%), Israel (17%), Indonesia (32%), Cambodia (49%), Malaysia (24%), South Korea (25%), Thailand (36%), Taiwan (32%), Switzerland (31%), Japan (24%) and other countries.
At the same time, the American leader appreciated the country's benefits from an increase in import duties of $ 6-7 trillion.
