Representatives of the US and Chinese Armed Forces held talks in Shanghai

Representatives of the armed forces of the United States and China held talks in Shanghai several times and discussed the issue of reducing unsafe actions by Chinese warships and aircraft. This was reported on Thursday, April 3, by the Reuters news agency, citing the US military.

"Military officials from the United States have arrived in Shanghai, China, to conduct working negotiations aimed at reducing cases of unsafe and unprofessional actions by the PLA Navy and Air Force (People's Liberation Army of China. — Ed.)," the publication quotes the statement of the US military.

As indicated, such negotiations are conducted by the working group of the Agreement on Naval Consultations (MMSA) every six months.

At the same time, it is clarified that the United States has long drawn attention to the "dangerous flights" of the PLA military in the region.

During the maneuvers, Beijing is exploring the possibility of obtaining comprehensive control and blocking key areas of the island.

Earlier in the day, the Taiwanese authorities reported the approach of 59 PLA aircraft and 23 ships to the island. It is noted that 31 of the 59 aircraft crossed the median line and entered the northern, central, southwestern and eastern air defenses of the country.

On April 2, Taiwan reported the approach of 76 aircraft and 15 Chinese ships to the island.
