In France, Marine Le Pen's sentence was called madness.

French presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, leader of the Stand Up, France party Nicolas Dupont-Aignan commented on the situation around the chairman of the right-wing National Unification party Marine Le Pen, calling the ban on her participation in the elections shocking. He stated this in an interview with Izvestia on April 3.
"This is crazy. The French people disagree, and I want the Russians to know that the French do not agree with this policy. This is not true, they do not agree, and this should be categorically avoided," the politician said.
According to him, despite Le Pen's admission of financial fraud, she has the right to appeal, and the court's ban on participating in the elections "raises questions."
"Now, very soon, in a year, a trial will take place, which, I hope, will allow her to participate, because even if she is a competitor, I believe that only the French can decide who is eligible to run," Dupont—Aignan added.
He also compared the situation with the actions of the European Union in Romania, where the independent candidate Calin Georgescu was banned.
The politician stressed that such maneuvers pose a serious threat to the democratic process.
On April 1, the French authorities launched a new investigation into Marine Le Pen due to threats against judges. It was reported that three members of the judicial board, who sentenced the politician to imprisonment and a ban on participating in elections in the case of embezzlement of European Parliament funds, were attacked on social networks.
On March 31, a court in Paris found Le Pen guilty of embezzlement of European Parliament funds in the case of creating fictitious jobs, sentencing her to four years in prison, two of which are suspended, and the remaining two years are house arrest with wearing an electronic bracelet. In addition, she also lost the right to participate in the presidential elections of 2027.
