France expressed support for Trump's policy of peaceful settlement in Ukraine
The French people do not agree with the policy of the current authorities of the country, who support Ukraine and do not contribute to the conclusion of peace, which is what US leader Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are striving for. This was stated to Izvestia on April 3 by the leader of the Get Up, France party, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan.
"This is crazy. The French people disagree, and I want the Russians to know that the French do not agree with this policy. And I'm running for president to avoid that. We are lucky to have Trump, who wants peace," Dupont-Aignan said..
The French presidential candidate also pointed out that the idea of sabotaging peaceful intentions is absolutely absurd and makes no sense.
"Why sabotage the world? If Putin and Trump make peace, why would France be against it? This is absurd. I think the 2027 elections will be decisive. I am the only one who dares to say this, I take my position. I am not a Russian agent, not an American agent, I am French and I ask for peace," the politician believes.
According to Dupont-Aignan, the idea of sending a peacekeeping contingent of European troops to Ukraine is just as stupid and pointless.
"I don't want troops to be sent to Ukraine. The Ukrainian regime is corrupt. The money sent to Ukraine ends up with Ukrainian oligarchs," he explained.
Sending the military of the European Union (EU) can only make the situation worse. At the same time, it is not the people of France who support these actions, but only the current president of the country, Emmanuel Macron, who will resign in two years, according to the law.
"I don't want France to get involved in this conflict. Totally unrealistic. But when a country is run by dangerous people, things can end badly. I would not like to start a cycle of provocations, fraught with the danger of nuclear escalation. According to a recent poll, 85% of the French are against sending troops. Therefore, we must remain calm and, above all, avoid this catastrophe," concluded Dupont-Aignan.
On the same day, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that France or Britain should take the initiative to work with Russia to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the European countries supporting Ukraine (the so-called "coalition of the willing") had previously agreed that one of their leaders should contact the Russian Federation at a certain stage.
On March 6, the leader of the National Association, Member of the European Parliament (EP) Jordan Bardella spoke out against the deployment of French troops in Ukraine. According to Bardell, if a decision is made to create a buffer zone in Ukraine, the UN Blue Helmets will have to control it. He added that the French president needs to be "extremely careful in choosing the wording so as not to cause concern among the French.
