The Jetour Dashing compact SUV received an all-wheel drive version and unusual options for its class, and the price came close to the brand's flagship crossover. The Izvestia correspondent understood the features of the novelty on the roads of the Yaroslavl region.

Closer to Lambo

Any modern car is suitable for traveling, but the presence of all-wheel drive expands the list of routes and gives more confidence off asphalt roads. The Jetour brand, which aggressively positions its crossovers as travel vehicles, had only one model suitable for this definition, the T2, since it was the only one that boasted all—wheel drive. It is all the more surprising that the Jetour Dashing, whose familiar element is the city, became the second model of the brand in our market with the AWD nameplate on the stern.

The stylish Dashing SUV, whose designers were clearly inspired by the appearance of the Lamborghini Urus supercross, is well known to Russians, because last year alone sales exceeded 15,000 copies, and it is often found in taxis. The front-wheel drive versions are mostly equipped with 1.5-liter turbo engines (147 hp), the flagship has a 190-horsepower 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, both units are combined with "robots".

The dimensions of the Jetour Dashing are 4590×1900×1685 mm with a wheelbase of 2720 mm. Ground clearance at full load — 150 mm

The new version of the Dashing has the same 1.6-liter engine, which lost four "horses", but received an automatic transmission with eight steps and a torque converter — the Jetour T2 recently acquired the same. Structurally, the "automatic" repeats the Japanese Aisin box and can withstand a thrust of 300 Nm. The drive to the rear axle is transmitted via a multi-disc clutch of the Faps brand. The same is true, for example, on the recently launched Soueast 07 and some all-wheel drive crossovers from the Chery concern. She's already been criticized for being slow.

With the advent of all-wheel drive, the Deshing became even closer to the Urus, although it would not be able to "jump" from traffic lights just as effectively. The Chinese SUV gained 80 kg in weight relative to the mono—drive version with the same engine and lost a little in dynamics - when accelerating to "hundreds" it barely goes out of 11 seconds.

In part, this acceleration of the almost 200-horsepower crossover is due to "thoughtfulness" after pressing the accelerator pedal. The delay manifests itself both on the move and in motion. The sport mode does not help, pedaling with such settings only makes the car more jerky, and the gearbox is in no hurry to reset the gears. The problem of the monopowered Dashing with getting out of phase has persisted: the accelerator pedal has already been released, and the engine continues to gain momentum.

However, this does not make the management completely uncomfortable. With measured movement, the transmission "juggles" gears imperceptibly and without jolts, as if driving an electric car. There is more than enough dynamics in urban traffic, but out of the city, overtaking slow cars has to be planned a little in advance.

Both in the snow and in the mud

Somewhere on the way from Rybinsk to Yaroslavl, we turn off the test drive route, which took place exclusively on asphalt, and direct the Jetour Dashing onto a dirt road covered with snow and mud porridge. In addition to the on-duty asphalt operating modes, the all-wheel drive SUV has three fixed off-road control electronics settings that use all-wheel drive. We try them.

Depending on the choice, the degree of aggressiveness of the rear axle connection, the throttle response settings and the operation of traction control systems change. In the "Snow" mode, the coupling is connected gently and gradually, and the anti-slip system is more active.

If you turn on the "Mud", the accelerator pedal becomes "sharper" compared to the "Snow", more thrust is applied to the rear axle at the same time, and the electronic assistants become passive so that the wheels can row. Finally, in the Off-road mode, the electronics give even more freedom to the wheels with priority in maximum traction, the clutch turns on even more often.

On the road between villages, somewhere in the wilderness, the Deshing coped with its task with dignity, starting off even in a situation where one side of the car is in loose snow and the other is in mud. There was no point in putting the crossover in more severe conditions.

It is noteworthy that the Jetour engineers did not make any changes to the suspension compared to the monoprivone versions. The rolls are low, the suspension is still rigid and not energy-intensive enough, the car often shakes on the highway, and there is not enough information from the steering wheel.

In the cabin, the main acquisition of the all-wheel drive "Deshing", which for some reason is available only in the most expensive version, is an electronically adjustable ottoman by the front passenger seat. If you raise it as much as possible, and shift the seat all the way back, then the landing becomes akin to a "captain's seat" in the second row of a minivan. This is the most comfortable place in the entire car, the seats of which are designed for slender riders of short stature.

The interior of the Jetour Dashing was originally conceived with a minimum of physical keys and switches, but with the advent of all-wheel drive, the crossover has changed itself. The "washer" for choosing the driving mode was placed on the floating center console, depriving it of one cup holder. Of course, this is more convenient than switching settings via a touchscreen "TV", even though the graphics and logic of its menu are among the best on the market. And who in an urban crossover will switch between "Snow" and "Off Road" modes more often than using a second cup holder?

On the floating console, the "washer" replaced one cup holder, next to the wireless charging for the smartphone.

If you were to interfere with the digital style created in the image of a modern electric car, then adjusting the rear-view mirrors from physical buttons would not hurt, as well as a number of "hot" keys. Something should have been done with the washer fluid supply button on the left dragonfly, too - the lever is so malleable that the turn signal turns on every now and then. The unstable operation of the wipers has not been fixed. You spray a washbasin on the glass, and the brushes either brush it off immediately or work with a delay.

All-wheel drive modifications are equipped with the largest available 15.6-inch center screen of the multimedia system, which finally received support for Apple Carplay and Android Auto protocols, and wires for connecting smartphones will not be needed. The mono-drive versions are still equipped with only the inconvenient CarbonLink with "mirroring".

Expensive-rich

The price of the Jetour Dashing AWD in the top-end Sport configuration starts from 3.8 million rubles, excluding discounts, which is almost 600 thousand rubles more expensive than the front-wheel drive version with the same engine. If we add another 160 thousand rubles to this amount, then the funds should be enough to buy the Jetour T2 crossover, which is already playing in a different class.

The all-wheel drive Jetour Dashing is available in two trim levels. The initial one costs from 3.64 million rubles, the top—end Sport one - from 3.8 million rubles.

The Sport version, in addition to the styling package, is distinguished by the presence of two comfortable options for the front passenger - a massage and an ottoman. Without them, the most affordable all-wheel drive "Deshing" will cost 3.65 million rubles. The list of equipment is rich: in addition to a heated steering wheel and all seats, a central screen (15.6 inches) with eight Sony speakers and an all-round viewing system, there is a panoramic roof, a standard DVR, wireless charging for one smartphone and a set of assistants, including adaptive cruise control.
