After the fire at the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant in Petrozavodsk, its main structures and equipment remained intact, and the company will be able to continue operating normally. The head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov told about it on April 3.

He expressed gratitude to the staff of the fire garrison of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for their professional work.

"The calculations arrived at the place very quickly. Thanks to this, it was possible to save the victims who were in the fire zone — the seconds counted, and the damage was minimized. The main structures and equipment of the plant were not damaged," Parfenchikov said on the website of the head of the region.

It is also specified that three workers of a military construction company were injured as a result of the emergency. One of them was treated on the spot. Two other men were taken to the hospital. Their condition is monitored by doctors.

The fire at the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair plant on an area of 1.5 thousand square meters in Karelia occurred on the same day. Later, it was liquidated and the structures were poured. As a result of the incident, three people were injured.

Investigators have opened a criminal case into the fire.
