A case of negligence was initiated due to flooding in Asha, Chelyabinsk region

The Investigative Committee (IC) has opened a criminal case on the fact of negligence during flood events in the Chelyabinsk region. Information about this appeared on April 3 on the Telegram channel of the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"The investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Chelyabinsk Region has opened a criminal case on this fact under Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Negligence")," the department said.

The UK clarified that due to rising water levels in the Sim River, 126 household plots with 95 houses were flooded from March 18 to March 20. In the territory of the city of Asha, more than 300 sites were in the flood zone, 275 people were evacuated.

Investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, and versions about the discharge of water from hydraulic structures upstream are being checked.

A rise in the water level on the Sima River in the Ashinsky district was reported on March 18. The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations informed that a working group with unmanned aerial vehicles and the forces of a specialized fire and rescue unit was sent to the scene.

On March 21, the water left all flooded areas and residential buildings. 12 people were accommodated in temporary accommodation facilities.
