A criminal case has been opened into the death of a worker due to a rock collapse in a mine. This was reported on April 3 in the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region.

"A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of a person by negligence")," the department's Telegram channel noted.

It is specified that investigators are now establishing the causes and circumstances of the incident.

The day before, a mining strike occurred at a mine located in the village of Kalya in the city of Severouralsk, as a result of which a rock collapse occurred at a height of more than 1 thousand m. One of the workers died on the spot from his injuries.
