The average cost of a new Russian car increased by 13%


In March, the average price of a Chinese—made car in Russia was 3.74 million rubles, while the domestic price was 1.59 million rubles. Compared to March last year, the average cost increased by 9% for Chinese brands and 13% for Russian brands. The average cost of a new car, including brands that are not officially represented on the Russian market, increased by more than 1 million rubles. By the end of March, it amounted to 9.12 million rubles.
According to the results of the first quarter of this year, the average cost of a new car remained at the February level. In Moscow, it remains the highest in the country, reaching 5.16 million rubles in March, which is 3% lower than in February. In St. Petersburg, the price also decreased, but only by 1%, amounting to 3.37 million rubles.
By the end of March, the top five models officially presented on the Russian market, whose average cost decreased relative to the previous month, were: Hongqi HS5 (-9.3%; 3.62 million rubles), Hongqi H5 (-5.4%; 4.64 million rubles), Voyah Dream (-3.4%; 9.2 million rubles), Chery Tiggo 4 Pro (-2.7%; 2.08 million rubles) and Exeed VX (-2.6%; 6.3 million rubles).
In March, the most expensive models gained slightly more than 2% in price. These included the Livan X6 Pro crossovers (2.72 million rubles) and the GAC GS3 (3.1%; 1.79 million rubles), as well as the FAW Bestune B70 sedan (3.18 million rubles).
The day before, it was reported that total sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in March 2025 amounted to 83.1 thousand units, which is 45% less than in March last year. Over the past 10 years, the March results were worse in percentage terms only in 2022 (-59%), and in the first quarter — in 2015 (-36%).
