Hackers most often hack web applications, they account for more than 60% of hacks, Konstantin Kryuchkov, AppSec.Track product Director at AppSecSolutions, said on April 3 at the Security Territory conference.

"Hackers most often hack web applications because the user is working with it, and it is relatively easy to get to it," Izvestia quotes Kryuchkov as saying.

According to the presentation, web applications account for more than 60% of hacks.

According to the expert, the second largest number of attacks are phishing emails (almost 20%), which are used in fraudulent schemes and affiliate programs.

In addition, experts are currently noting an increase in the number of attacks on the Supply Chain in software development. This process covers all the steps and practices that contribute to the creation, protection and deployment of software, and is key to its quality and security.

"The difficulty is that hackers are becoming more inventive, attacks can be targeted when attackers have been preparing for them for several years, register some plausible domains, study the infrastructure in order to arouse less suspicion from all security services," Kryuchkov explained.

The main threat is that as a result of a single attack, many companies using the same product can be compromised, he noted.

Earlier, on March 5, it was reported that hackers were four times more likely to attack the web resources of Russian companies in 2024 compared to 2023. This was told to Izvestia by cybersecurity companies. The average number of web attacks increased from 15 million to 65 million per month.
