The Finnish Bandy Association has stated that it is in a difficult financial situation and will not be able to send national teams to the World Cup, as well as reduce staff. The relevant information was published on April 2 on the official website of the association.

"We are in a situation where we need all hockey fans to unite in finding and inventing ways to find and raise more money to ensure the continuity of activities, as well as the development and existence of hockey," said Antti Parviainen, Chairman of the association.

According to him, it is now quite difficult to find sponsors, and government funding has become less. As a result, prices have increased by about 20% recently due to inflation.

The association cited the conflict in Ukraine as one of the reasons, as well as the decision of the International Federation (FIB) related to the continuation of the organization of the World Championships. It is clarified that FIB has changed the rules of the competition. According to the innovation, each team must pay for itself.

Earlier, on February 4, it became known that the executive committee of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced the non-admission of the Russian national team to the 2026 World Cup. The press service of the Russian Hockey Federation (RIHF) announced that they were going to challenge the verdict of the IIHF in court.
