Four Ukrainian Armed Forces militants received up to 16 years in prison for the terrorist attack in the Kursk region

The Second Western District Military Court has sentenced four servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to 15 and 16 years in prison for committing a terrorist act in the Kursk region. This was announced on April 3 by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"They were found guilty under paragraphs "a" and "b" of part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Commission by a group of persons by prior agreement of a terrorist act that entailed grave consequences")," the agency's website says.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, in early October 2024, militants armed with small arms and explosive devices, in order to carry out terrorist activities, invaded the territory of the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region and proceeded towards the village of Veseloe in order to block it and carry out terrorist activities.

"While keeping the village under armed control, they monitored the area to receive and transmit information about the actions of Russian military units, took measures to disrupt the activities of state and local government authorities, intimidated civilians, forbade them to move, and prevented evacuation," the ministry said.

The court agreed with the position of the public prosecutor and sentenced the convicts to imprisonment for terms from 15 to 16 years, with the first three years in prison, and the rest of the sentence in a high—security penal colony.
