Porsche is considering a return to the arms market. According to the German portal Europaische Sicherheit und Technik (ESuT), the automaker, which suffered multibillion-dollar losses last year, is exploring cost-cutting options and new business lines.

According to the publication, instead of specific development contracts, Porsche Holding SE is interested in corporate investments. Since 2024, the company has invested more than $1 million in the startup Quantum Systems, which develops unmanned aerial vehicles.

During the Second World War, Porsche was engaged in military products, in addition to producing staff vehicles and amphibians, it developed heavy tanks. The most famous projects are Tiger (Porsche Typ 101), Elefant and VK 30.01 (P).

Earlier, on March 12, Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume said that the concern was "open" to the production of military equipment at its factories. Blume said that the company is carefully studying the needs of the military industry in technology.

Volkswagen also has military production experience. For example, from 1939 to 1945, the Volkswagen Type 82 Kübelwagen was produced at the brand's factory, which earned the title of Germany's most massive light car during World War II.
