- The State Duma adopted an amendment on the status of a veteran for volunteers in the Kursk region

At a meeting on April 3, the State Duma adopted in the second and third readings a law on extending the status of combat veterans to military personnel performing combat missions in the Kursk region. The document was published on the website of the legislative support system.
It clarifies that the law applies to those who have become disabled due to injuries or illnesses sustained while performing these tasks. In addition, it covers military personnel who participated in repelling an armed invasion of the territory of the Russian Federation and suppressing armed provocations on the state border and in the regions adjacent to the special military operation zone.
According to the amendments, it is proposed to extend these standards to employees of other federal services, such as the police, the National Guard, the fire department, the Prosecutor's office, the penitentiary system and the Investigative Committee. Veteran status will also be granted to volunteers who perform these tasks.
On February 28, the Russian government submitted to the State Duma a bill granting the status of a combat veteran to Russian servicemen who repelled an attack on the territory of the Kursk region. The adoption of the amendments will increase the level of social protection for military personnel and employees of law enforcement agencies.
