The Volgograd Regional Court sentenced Stanislav Ilchuk, a 23-year-old local resident, to 14 years in a penal colony for high treason and sabotage of a Russian Railways facility. This was announced on April 3 by the joint press service of the courts of the region.
It was established that from May 25 to June 17, 2024, the defendant began correspondence with a representative of the Ukrainian special services. He offered his help in actions against Russian security for money.
Further, on the instructions of the supervisor, the man got to the metal cabinet of the rail lubricator, opened the cabinet and set it on fire, trying to create an emergency and damage the economy and defense of the country. He recorded the arson process on his phone and sent a report.
"According to the totality of the crimes, he was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 14 years to be served in a high—security penal colony, followed by restriction of liberty for a period of 1 year," the press service said in a Telegram channel.
On the same day, a court in the Altai Territory sentenced a 21-year-old local resident to 12 years in a high-security penal colony and a fine of 300,000 rubles for transferring money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). A criminal case was opened on this fact in accordance with Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason").
