- In Russia, almost 60% of companies have experienced downtime or data loss.

In 2024, 58% of Russian companies experienced unplanned downtime of their IT systems and equipment or data loss. At the same time, losses from even one hour of downtime of an enterprise company can cost tens of millions of rubles. This is stated in a study by the Telecom Exchange IT integrator, which was reviewed by Izvestia on April 3.
At the same time, only downtime was observed in 39%, only data loss — 32%, and 11% of organizations recorded both problems during the year.
73% of Russian IT companies had failures, 71% in the industrial sector, and 65% in telecom.
"The amount of lost data lost during each incident is growing exponentially. At the same time, oddly enough, many Russian organizations still do not pay enough attention to the practices of disaster recovery of data and system operability in case of failures," said Dmitry Denshchikov, director of cloud services at the Telecom Exchange IT integrator.
According to him, the financial losses of businesses that have not deployed a continuous availability strategy can range from hundreds of thousands to several million rubles, depending on the size of the organization per incident.
Among the most common causes of data failures and loss are power outages (53% of cases), hardware failures (43%), software failures (34%), and security breaches (24%) due to cybercriminals using malicious software, spyware, botnets, etc. Systems are least likely to suffer from employee sabotage and natural disasters (12% each, respectively), as well as failures on the part of the cloud service provider (8%).
Earlier, on February 21, it was reported that the average duration of a cyberattack on Russian companies in 2024 was 51 minutes, which is 21% less than in 2023, according to data from Informzashita. Experts attribute this negative trend to the proliferation of stilers, the development of hacker service platforms, and the use of artificial intelligence by attackers.
