In Ukraine, they called the US 10% duties "top-grade cynicism"

US President Donald Trump's new 10% tariffs on Ukrainian imports are "cynicism of the highest standard." This was announced on April 3 by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Daniil Getmantsev.
"Undoubtedly, it is the 10% duty that will not have a big negative effect for Ukraine, given the small part of commodity exports to the United States <...> But actually, to impose 10% duties with a deficit of our foreign trade with the United States of $2.6 billion is economic cynicism of the highest standard," Getmantsev wrote on the Telegram channel.
He added that the trade war will significantly hit the economies of the partner countries. According to him, this situation will lead to a decrease in aid to Ukraine.
On the same day, Trump announced the tariffs. He also showed a chart with a list of countries and topics related to the new duties of the United States against them. It was specified that duties of 20% will be imposed on goods from the European Union (EU), 34% on goods from China.
At the same time, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China stated that the state would respond to the duties imposed by the President of the United States and protect its rights. According to the agency, an increase in tariffs will not solve the United States' own problems.
