The process of designing and then building a dolphin rehabilitation center begins in Sevastopol. Funds for the purchase of a plot of 2 hectares of land were raised with the help of volunteers.

The design phase of swimming pools and adjacent life support systems will begin in the near future. The complex will have an administrative building with a veterinary laboratory, a feed kitchen and various work rooms.

IA SevastopolMedia, referring to the social networks of the Serene Sea Volunteer Center, writes that for eight years, volunteers have been helping dolphins just by the sea.

It was possible to buy a plot of land thanks to the support of the society, which was especially strengthened after the accident in the Kerch Strait and the fuel oil spill. During this time, 230 individuals of cetacean species listed in the federal and regional Red Books have passed through the organization's monitoring system.

According to the volunteer center, 110 dolphins died on the Crimean Peninsula from January to April 2025.

In mid-March, the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, announced that the authorities were continuing to monitor the situation after the December 2024 fuel oil spill in the Black Sea. Together with Rospotrebnadzor, the coast is being analyzed in terms of samples and permissible concentrations. The first samples show that the beaches are absolutely clean, there is no excess of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC).
