The Urban Environment Quality Index has been published in Russia

The average indicator of the quality of the urban environment in Russia last year increased from 200 to 220 points, according to the index presented by DOM.The Russian Federation and the Ministry of Construction of Russia.

The index was calculated for 1116 cities.

According to Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Irek Fayzullin, the initial national goal to increase the Urban Environment Quality Index by 30% has been achieved. "This year, the number of cities with a favorable environment has exceeded the planned value by 18%, 205 cities have become more comfortable to live in. Thanks to the work of the federal project "Creating a comfortable urban environment", we see the active work of the regions to improve the lives of their citizens," said Fayzullin.

Among the largest cities in a relatively comfortable climate, Moscow received the highest scores — 312 points, St. Petersburg — 283 points, Kazan — 254 points. The leaders among the major cities are Grozny — 280 points, Tula — 280 points and Tyumen — 276 points. Yakutia, the Chechen Republic and Kalmykia showed the largest increase compared to 2019.

According to the deputy CEO of DOM.According to Denis Filippov, master planning contributes to improving the comfort of the urban environment. "This large-scale work improves people's quality of life and contributes to the economic development of the regions. It is especially important for cities with severe climatic conditions, where it is important to take into account environmental aspects, identity and cultural characteristics," he said. Filippov added that there was a HOUSE in the briefcase.Russia currently has more than 320 design projects for the improvement of public spaces, as well as more than 60 master plans.

The Urban Environment Quality Index was first introduced in November 2019. It is calculated on the basis of 36 indicators, including indicators of the attractiveness of green areas, safety, accessibility of public transport, diversity of residential buildings, and the environment for people with limited mobility.
