The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that it is impossible for Armenia to combine membership in the EU and the EAEU

Russia is confident that it is impossible to be in two multidirectional associations at the same time, such as the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union (EU). This was announced on April 3 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.

"We are convinced that it is impossible to be in two multidirectional associations at the same time, like the EAEU and the European Union," Galuzin told RIA Novosti.

According to him, the EAEU is an association of equal states, but the EU is a structure in which "stick discipline reigns." He also stressed that the final decision rests with Armenia as a sovereign state.

Earlier, on March 26, it was reported that the Armenian parliament in the second and final reading adopted a bill on the beginning of the process of the country's accession to the EU. It is specified that 64 deputies voted for the adoption of the document, seven opposed it.
