In the Chita district of the Zabakail Territory, a forest fire with an area of 1 thousand square meters could not be extinguished for three days, the regional prosecutor's office reported on Thursday, April 3.

"It was established that the fire was recorded on March 30, 2025 at 07:30 (local time, 01:30 Moscow time) on the territory of the Novotroitsk district forestry at a distance of 52 km from the settlement on an area of 50 g," the agency's publication follows in the Telegram channel.

First, 19 firefighters and five pieces of equipment arrived at the scene, after which 23 more specialists and nine pieces of equipment were involved, the prosecutor's office noted.

As indicated, the fire has not only still not been eliminated, but its area has increased 20 times to 1 thousand g.

In this regard, on April 2, the Chita district Prosecutor's office demanded that the head of the regional state specialized autonomous institution Zabaikalleskhoz eliminate the violations.

After that, eight more pieces of equipment and 20 people were involved in the work.

"An assessment of the damage and the costs incurred to extinguish the fire will be carried out after its elimination. These amounts will be recovered from the culprit of the fire, along with the decision on bringing him to administrative or criminal responsibility," the agency concluded.
