On Wednesday, April 2, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent explained why Russia and Belarus were not included in the list of countries subject to new trade duties.

Bessent said the tariffs did not affect these countries, as the United States does not trade with them because they are under economic sanctions.

It is noteworthy that Canada and Mexico are also not on the list of countries subject to tariffs, Fox News channel noted.

After signing the decree, Trump disclosed the amount of duties against a number of countries. At the same time, in response to the 67% duty from China, the United States will impose a 34% tariff.

On March 26, President Trump announced the introduction of 25 percent duties in the United States on all cars and trucks manufactured outside the country. He clarified that these measures will come into force on April 2 and will be added to the existing ones. The White House estimates that approximately $100 billion in annual duties will be collected.
