Military personnel of the engineering troops of the 92nd sapper regiment of the North group of forces continue to clear unexploded ordnance from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) houses and household plots of the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region. This was announced on April 3 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

"At the moment we are working in the Sudzha district, we are engaged in mine clearance. We inspect all the houses, basements, and surrounding areas, and accordingly, we pass through everything. We find various submunitions — cluster munitions, mines," said the commander of the mine clearance company with the call sign Tambov.

The purpose of such work is to restore socially significant facilities and infrastructure necessary for establishing peaceful life and economic activity in the region after its liberation from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"During their escape, the militants leave behind mines, tripwires and other traps that are almost impossible for an ordinary and inexperienced person to detect. That is why the sappers are working every day, as the enemy has used various types of ammunition, including from NATO countries," the Defense Ministry said.

On March 2, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government to develop a program for the restoration of infrastructure facilities in the Kursk region by July 1.

Earlier that day, the Russian government additionally decided to allocate about 16 billion rubles to support residents of the Kursk region who have lost their homes. It is specified that these funds can be used for the purchase or construction of new houses and apartments.
