- Russian Embassy congratulates Latvian concentration camp prisoners on the anniversary of the Great Victory

Alisa Galileeva and Anastasia Portnova, prisoners of Nazi concentration camps living in Latvia, participants of the Izvestia Great Victory project, received commemorative medals "80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" from the Russian Embassy in Riga. They told about it on April 2 in an interview with Izvestia.
"We have two holidays: May 6 and 9. On the sixth we were released from the concentration camp. May 9th is our common, common world holiday," Alisa Ivanovna said.
Also, a resident of Latvia noted that Russia does not forget about her.
"We always remember and celebrate [May 9th]. This is a holy day for us. <...> I've been to the Russian embassy in the past and I hope that this time I'll be there too," Galileeva shared.
According to her, the celebration organized by the Russian Embassy in Latvia is solemn and at the same time very touching.
"Solemnly. They came out with flowers, and there was a photographer. They took pictures and congratulated me," Portnova said about the ceremony of awarding the jubilee medal at the Russian Embassy.
Earlier, on March 31, the Izvestia Multimedia Information Center (MIC) launched the Great Victory virtual interactive Museum dedicated to the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). The unique platform was created using modern visualization technologies.
