A criminal case has been opened in the Chukotka Autonomous Region after the theft of more than 3 million rubles from a veteran of a special military operation. This was announced by the regional prosecutor's office on Thursday, April 3.

According to the agency, the attacker, whose identity has not been established, had access to the veteran's personal account at Sberbank Online.

"The victim is a veteran of his military service, released from military service due to injury," the prosecutor's office clarified in its Telegram channel.
A criminal case has been opened under paragraph "b" of Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Secret theft of other people's property committed on an especially large scale").

All the circumstances of the incident are being established.

Earlier, on October 31, 2024, it was reported that law enforcement officers detained two local residents in the Rostov region suspected of stealing 3.5 million rubles from a participant in a special operation.
