Waltz's team has created more than 20 SIgnal chats to discuss global events

Officials from the team of US President Donald Trump's National Security adviser Mike Waltz have created more than 20 chats on the Signal messenger to discuss and coordinate work on conflicts around the world. This was reported by Politico on April 2.
"The team of National Security Adviser Mike Waltz regularly created chats in Signal to coordinate official work on issues such as Ukraine, China, Gas, politics in the Middle East, Africa and Europe," said four sources with access to these chats.
Two of them also mentioned the existence of at least 20 such chats. All four sources reported discussing classified information in correspondence.
Cabinet ministers and other senior U.S. officials are often added to such private groups.
In turn, National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes noted that the SIgnal messenger is not prohibited on government devices, and many other agencies automatically install it on their employees' phones. This method of communication was also used by the administration of the previous US President Joe Biden.
"This is one of the approved methods of communication, but not the main or even secondary one, it is one of the many approved methods for unclassified materials with the understanding that the user must keep a record," Hughes emphasized.
The scandalous publication of the Atlantic magazine discussing attacks on the Houthis by the US administration became known on March 25. The editor-in-chief of Goldberg magazine stated that on March 11, he received a request to connect to Signal from a user under the nickname Mike Waltz. Two days later, Goldberg received a notification about being added to a group chat called "Houthis small group." Then, on March 15, a user named Pete Hegseth posted a message that contained details of the upcoming strikes against the Houthis. According to the screenshots, Hegseth sent information about the departure of American F-18 fighter jets 31 minutes before the start of the mission. On March 30, Trump refused to fire officials after the Signal data leak scandal.
