- Ryabkov and Iran's deputy foreign minister stressed the importance of contacts on the nuclear issue.

On April 2, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi discussed the continuation of contacts between Moscow and Tehran on the Iranian nuclear program. This was reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA.
"At this meeting <...> [the parties] stressed the need to continue close consultations in order to create a common framework for resolving disputes and lifting sanctions [against Iran]," the statement said.
In addition to discussing issues related to Iran's nuclear program, Ryabkov and Takht-Ravanchi exchanged views on other issues on the regional and global agenda, as well as on various aspects of bilateral relations between Moscow and Tehran.
Earlier, on March 30, US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with bombing on March 30 if the parties did not sign an agreement on Tehran's refusal to develop nuclear weapons. In turn, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on April 1 that military intervention in the republic's affairs by the United States would not help resolve the issue of the nuclear deal.
