Israeli aircraft attacked a military facility in the Masakin Bizri area in northern Damascus. This was reported on April 2 by the SANA TV channel.

"Israeli aircraft struck the area of a research building in the Masaken Barzeh area of Damascus," the article says.

According to the TV channel, as a result of the attack, a strong explosion was heard in Damascus and its surroundings. The object that was attacked belonged to the former Syrian army.

Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the IDF had seized additional territory in the Gaza Strip, as well as increased pressure on the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. The Prime Minister stressed that the Israeli side is taking control of the Morag axis, which connects the cities of Rafah and Khan Yunis.

In an interview with Izvestia on April 2, Stanislav Tarasov, an expert on the problems of the Middle East and the Caucasus, called the expansion of Israel's operations in the Gaza Strip another escalation spurt. According to him, by refusing to fulfill the second stage of the agreement with Hamas, Israel has effectively disrupted the entire peace process.

The IDF resumed military operations against the Palestinian movement in Gaza on March 18. The press service of the Gaza Ministry of Health reported on March 28 that since then, more than 890 people have been killed and more than 1,980 injured in renewed attacks on the Palestinian enclave.
