London's decision to introduce a mandatory report for organizations in the country on relations with Moscow is pushing the UK to become a real "police state." This was announced on April 2 in a statement from the Russian Embassy.

"The destructive potential of this step [creating a registry] is obvious, primarily for the future of the UK itself. The United Kingdom has moved far forward towards becoming a police state. <...> Another discriminatory barrier has been erected out of the blue on the way to restoring Russian-British relations in the long term," the diplomatic mission's website says.

The diplomats noted that the wording of the official statements of the British government contains contradictions and inaccuracies, and therefore their "vague nature" will allow the British authorities to make decisions on the nature of "crimes" at their discretion.

The embassy stressed that London had again, without any reason, designated Russia an "acute threat to British security." By equating any form of interaction with Moscow, including in the fields of science, education, and others, to a potential violation of the law.

"Local authorities have further consolidated the UK's status as one of the most unfriendly Western jurisdictions. The mood for further escalation of the confrontation with Russia can be read in what is happening. We understand the motives of the decision taken by the United Kingdom authorities. First of all, the awareness of the impending collapse of the "Ukrainian project" is affecting," the diplomats concluded.

On the same day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the decision of the British authorities to include Russia in the foreign influence Registration system (FIRS) and the intention to introduce an enhanced control regime against this background. According to her, the new rules are insane. Since in this case, any person carrying out activities in Britain related to state and government Russian structures will have to register in a special register. Otherwise, he faces up to five years in prison.
