Russia is open to realistic peace initiatives to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, as well as mediation proposals. This was announced on April 2 by the Russian Foreign Ministry following a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Galuzin and his Chinese counterpart Liu Bin.

"Moscow has declared its openness to realistic peace initiatives and mediation proposals that take into account Russian interests. In this context, the activities of the "Group of Friends of Peace in Ukraine", created at the UN site, were discussed," the publication says on the agency's website.

Russia also stressed the need to eliminate the root causes of the conflict in order to achieve a peaceful settlement, including dismantling the threats to Russia's security emanating from Ukraine as a result of NATO's expansion to the east, as well as ending Kiev's extermination of the rights of the Russian-speaking population.

During the meeting, representatives of Moscow and Beijing confirmed their commitment to further develop joint coordination on the regional and global agenda.

On April 1, Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmytruk called the end of the Ukrainian conflict the main national goal. According to him, direct and transparent relations with Russia will become a real guarantee of security for the country.
