US President Donald Trump has informed his entourage that Elon Musk will step down as head of the Department of Public Efficiency (DOGE) in the coming weeks. This was reported by Politico on April 2, citing sources.

"The president remains pleased with Musk and the initiative of the Department of Government Efficiency, but both men have decided in recent days that it will soon be time for Musk to return to his business," the article says.

At the same time, according to the publication, dissatisfaction with Musk's unpredictability is growing within the US administration, and some officials "view him as a political burden."

It is clarified that after leaving Musk, he may retain the unofficial role of adviser.

Earlier, on April 1, Trump announced that Musk might step away from politics and government in the future in order to devote all his time to business again. Trump also appreciated how well Musk was doing his job, calling him a "talented guy."
