- The WSJ reported on the words of Trump's lawyer regarding the possibility of a third term.

Boris Epstein, the lawyer of US President Donald Trump, said in 2023 that the American leader would have the legal opportunity to circumvent the law and seek a third term in the White House. This was reported on April 2 by The Wall Street Journal, citing a lawyer colleague.
"Communicating with a partner in October 2023, <...> Epstein said that he had studied the law and believed that Trump would be able to find a way to run again in 2028," the publication says.
A source told The Wall Street Journal that at first he did not attach any importance to these words and retold Epstein's statement as a joke. However, against the background of recent statements by Trump and his supporters, the lawyer's words began to cause his colleague alarm.
A number of senior members of the Republican Party also told the newspaper that they believe in Trump's intention to run for a third term. They noted that so far the resistance to the president's political course remains weak, and in the future the fight against it may only become more difficult.
Earlier, on March 31, Trump said that he had not yet seriously considered the possibility of running for a third term, but was receiving requests from people to do so. At the same time, he added that he would like to compete with former head of state Barack Obama in the elections. Prior to that, the president had stated that there were ways to achieve a third term for him, but it was too early to think about it now.
The Daily Mail reported on March 30 that the American leader has the opportunity to remain in power until 2037 due to a loophole in the 22nd amendment to the country's Constitution. As specified in the article, this possibility arises due to discrepancies in the interpretation of this amendment: it prohibits re-election only for a president who has been elected twice, but does not regulate the situation of returning to office in the event of the resignation or death of another president.
