- The European Commissioner stated that it is impossible for any EU country to stand up to Russia alone.

No country in the European Union (EU) can stand up to Russia alone. This was announced on April 2 by the European Commissioner for Defense, Andrius Kubilius.
"In three months, Russia produces more weapons than all NATO members in one year <...>. No EU member state can stand alone against Russia alone," he said, speaking at a defense forum in Warsaw.
According to him, Ukraine, "by teaming up with the EU member states," can take advantage of the new defense program, which provides €150 billion in loans from the EU budget.
"An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us, even if the soldiers do not cross your border," Kubilius added.
Earlier, on March 18, the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen said that Europe should have strong defense by 2030, for this it is necessary to rearm and develop capabilities for reliable deterrence. In particular, investments in the production of air and missile defense systems, as well as all modern types of drones and anti-drone systems, should be increased for this purpose.
During the plenary session on March 11, von der Leyen said that the EU defense industry was lagging far behind Russia, so it was necessary to accelerate militarization. According to her, Russia spends more on military spending than the whole of Europe, where there is low production. She stressed that EU countries should spend more than 3% of GDP on defense spending.
