The government has approved a road construction plan until 2030

The Russian government has approved a new road construction plan for 2030. It is planned to allocate over 9 trillion rubles from the federal budget for its implementation in the next six years. This was announced on April 2 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a government meeting.

By 2030, at least 85% of highways of federal significance, the backbone network and the largest urban agglomerations, as well as at least 60% of regional or inter-municipal roads are planned to be brought into a standard state in Russia.

The approved plan includes the construction and reconstruction of over 3,500 km of roads, and the completion of at least 50 bypasses of settlements, as well as the construction of trails and highways with illuminated bridges, pedestrian crossings, sidewalks and overpasses.

In addition, another section of the Rossiya transport route was included in the new plan, which includes the M-11 Neva and M-12 Vostok highways. We are talking about a segment of almost 300 km to Yekaterinburg, which will then be extended to Tyumen.

"The Ministry of Transport needs to strictly monitor the expenditure of funds, the progress of work and the timing of their completion. After all, the accuracy of logistics and the comfort of citizens' movement directly depend on this. And most importantly, it affects the safety of pedestrians and drivers, their lives and health," Mikhail Mishustin said.

How road safety will be taken into account in the new national project

On March 26, Mishustin noted that by the end of 2024, about 25 thousand km of roads were built and repaired in Russia, from the largest multi—level interchanges to driveways in neighborhoods and courtyards. By the end of 2024, more than half of the regional and more than 85% of roads in large cities with suburbs met modern requirements, he said.

On January 14, it was reported that in 2024, after construction and reconstruction, Rosavtodor commissioned 21 facilities with a total length of 506 km, which is 272.5 km more than in 2023.
