Flights between Russia and Abkhazia will be launched on May 1. This was announced on April 2 by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.
"Many decisions have already been made. On the instructions of the President [of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin], we decided to deploy flights. And from May 1, full—fledged flights to Sukhumi Airport will be implemented," Kiriyenko said.
In addition, he added that from May 1, the Sirius — Imeritinskaya Valley — Sukhum electric train will also start running, which is a serious additional opportunity for movement.
On February 6, the first plane landed at Sukhumi International Airport as part of a test flight from Moscow. The flight was made by Mitsubishi CRJ 200-ER of the Russian airline UVT Aero.
