France announced two EU responses to Trump's tariffs

The response of the European Union (EU) to US President Donald Trump's duties on aluminum and steel will be announced by mid—April, and a full response to other areas by the end of the month. This was announced on April 2 by the official representative of the French government, Sophie Prima.
"The first strike will be announced in mid-April, it will be a response to what we have today on the already accepted customs duties on steel and aluminum. Then a detailed study will be conducted — category by category, sector by sector," she said at a briefing in Paris, which was broadcast by the BFM television channel.
She stressed that Europe's expanded decision would be announced before the end of April, so that there would be enough time to form a unified EU response.
According to Prima, the Europeans should be careful in choosing business sectors and at the same time give a strong and united response to tariffs. At the same time, she noted that one of the strategies that Washington is going to undertake will be an attempt to separate the European Union and find points of divergence between the member states of the bloc.
The official representative of the French government clarified that the European side is awaiting an announcement from the United States. She also noted that currently there is no source who can tell in which business sector the duties will be introduced. At the same time, they are convinced that tariffs will reach 20-25%, which will subsequently lead to significant economic disruptions not only in Europe, but throughout the world.
Prima stressed that American business players with subcontractors in Europe are awaiting the announcement of customs duties "with horror." In particular, according to her, they are waiting for the consequences for their business in the United States and competitiveness in the state.
On March 30, Bloomberg reported on the spread of anti-American sentiments in Europe amid dissatisfaction with Trump's policies. It was noted that the irritation was caused by the threats of the US president to impose punitive duties and stop military support for the region. At the same time, it was clarified that the greatest deterioration in public opinion is observed in Denmark due to the indignation of leaders and citizens over Trump's plans to take control of Greenland.
Also on March 26, Trump announced the introduction of 25 percent duties in the United States on all cars and trucks manufactured outside the country. He clarified that these measures will come into force on April 2 and will be added to the existing ones. The White House estimates that approximately $100 billion in annual duties will be collected.
