A criminal case was opened in the Moscow region after a firecracker exploded in a classroom in Istra. This was announced on April 2 by the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region in the Telegram channel.

"In Istra, a criminal case has been opened on reports of children being injured at school," the statement said.

It is noted that investigators have opened a case into possible negligent actions by school officials that led to the popping of a pyrotechnic device (Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

At the moment, the circumstances of the incident are being established.

On the same day, the Ministry of Education of the Moscow Region reported that a fifth-grade student threw a chemical bomb into a classmate's briefcase during a Russian language lesson. As a result of the explosion of the object, nine students needed medical help, and one schoolgirl was hospitalized. The Istra Prosecutor's Office is conducting an inspection.
